Why does my EV and Smart Splitter data not match up in the statistics?Updated 11 days ago

It's common to see slight differences between the energy data reported by your EV and the NeoCharge Smart Splitter. Let's explore why this happens and what's considered normal.

Why Differences Occur:

  • Your EV measures at the battery/car level.
  • NeoCharge measures at the outlet.
  • Power conversion in the EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) causes some energy loss.

Measurement Points:

  1. Smart Splitter: Logs power pulled directly from the wall outlet.
  2. EVSE: Some power is lost during conversion.
  3. Vehicle: Shows power put into the battery after energy loss.

Normal Discrepancies:

  • Differences of up to 5% are considered normal based on the Smart Splitter sensors.
  • Typically, variances should be within +/- 3% between Smart Splitter and vehicle data.

Larger Differences: If you notice larger differences:

  1. Ensure your splitter's firmware is up to date.
  2. Update the firmware by turning your breaker off/on ONE time.
  3. If discrepancies persist, please contact support for further assistance.

Understanding the Data:

  • Smart Splitter data will typically show slightly higher energy usage due to measuring before conversion losses.
  • Vehicle data will show slightly lower energy received due to measuring after-conversion losses.

Remember, these small discrepancies are normal and a result of measuring at different points in the charging process. If you're concerned about larger differences, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team for help.
