Smart Splitter Installation Guide - PDF Version
Overview:
Installing your Smart Splitter is a straightforward process that typically takes 5-10 minutes. This guide will walk you through each step to ensure proper and safe installation.
Required Tools:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Time required: 5-10 minutes
Installation Steps:
- Turn Off Power
- IMPORTANT: Locate the circuit breaker controlling your 240V outlet
- Turn off the breaker before beginning installation
- Unplug any appliance or EV charger currently using the outlet
- Install Mounting Bracket
- Locate the included mounting bracket and bracket screws (2x)
- Remove the existing faceplate screws
- Align the mounting bracket with the outlet faceplate
- IMPORTANT: Ensure the bracket slots align with the gold mounting points on your Smart Splitter
- Secure the bracket using the provided bracket screws
- Plug in Smart Splitter
- Insert the Smart Splitter into your outlet
- Secure it to the mounting bracket using either:
- Thumb screws (2x) for easy removal
- Panhead screws (2x) for a lower profile installation
- Note: Choose panhead screws if thumb screws interfere with cable orientation
- Connect Primary Device
- The Primary outlet (marked "PRI") always has priority
- Plug your primary device (typically your appliance or priority EV) into this side
- Look for "PRI" marking next to the LED indicator
- Connect Secondary Device
- Plug your secondary device into the outlet marked "SEC"
- This outlet automatically pauses when the primary device draws power
- Look for "SEC" marking next to the LED indicator
- Restore Power
- Turn the circuit breaker back on
- Verify power by checking the LED indicators:
- WHITE indicates the unit is powered and idle
- GREEN indicates power is being drawn
- All other LED colors indicate different states (see LED Indicator Guide)
- Connect to WiFi and Configure Settings in App
- Download the NeoCharge App
- Follow in-app instructions to connect your Smart Splitter
- Verify your circuit breaker amperage
- Configure your charging schedules and preferences
Important Notes:
- For 30A circuits: Ensure your EV charging is set to 24A or less
- For 50A circuits: Ensure total charging load doesn't exceed 40A
- Always follow proper electrical safety procedures
